Since 1975, the Andes Society for History and Culture (ASHC) has been dedicated to preserving the rich history and cultural heritage of Andes, NY, and our surrounding communities. Nestled in the picturesque Catskill Mountains, we offer diverse educational programs, cultural events, and research opportunities, making local history accessible and relevant to our community.
EDUCATION
We inspire curiosity through exhibitions, lectures and demonstrations exploring cultural traditions showcasing Andes’ rich history. We offer tours for students and history enthusiasts.
RESEARCH
ASHC provides access to temperature- and humidity-controlled collections for research by appointment. We also offer copies of historical documents, photographs, and other unique resources to support historical studies.
EVENTS
From art exhibitions, workshops, readings and book signings, concerts, to the beloved Andes Community Day, our special events bring neighbors and visitors from near and far together to celebrate our vibrant culture.

The PARTHENIA DAVIS GIFT SHOP at the Hunting Tavern Museum features a unique selection of:

Hunting Tavern Museum
- Restored c. 1840 Tavern showcasing the rich history and culture of our region through exhibits and events.

Old Fire Hall & Thrift Shop
- The original c. 1896 Andes Firehouse, and home to our Thrift Shop.

Pleasant Valley Meeting House
- The Pleasant Valley Methodist Church, c. 1854, located just outside town.
- The facility has been restored and the dining hall renovated for use as a cultural and performing arts center.
